Maintain your material masters, bill of materials, document information records, change masters directly from PTC Windchill.
Documents created in Windchill to describe a part are transferred to SAP and linked to the related material master.
You can configure which fields and material views are supplied. Furthermore, you can also specify that plant-specific views are transferred in addition to the cross-plant views.
The bill of materials is derived from the CAD assembly structure (EPMDocument structure) or the part structure (WTPart structure) as required. In addition to position types N,L, variable size items (R) and text positions are also supported. The logic for position setup can be adjusted depending on the application.
Classification and characteristics
When using PartsLink in Windchill, material masters can be classified and their characteristics on the SAP side are upated according to the class attributes in Windchill.
Along with managing your core product data, IFConneX for SAP also supports you in the update of bill of documents, order bills of materials, project BOM, process plans, and other master data.
When product data and documents are ready for transmission, the data is again validated for correctness and completeness before being transferred to SAP. Upon release either by a set state or as result of a workflow product data are being synchronized. The data is now up-to-date in both systems and available for use in the next step.
All data are subject to a regulated and harmonized change management process in both systems. Each change operation is managed in a change notice (Change Notice Workflow) on the Windchill side. The interface links the change notice in Windchill to the SAP change master record. All changed parts, bills of materials and documents are managed simultaneously by the change notice.
On the key date, when the change master record becomes valid in SAP, all parts, bills of materials and descriptive documents affected by the change are simultaneously released in their new version and the prepared change can enter production.
