Initial situation

• Hoerbiger used SAP 4.7 with various clients.
• The existing Innoface Windchill – SAP coupling, which had been in use since 2008, covered the requirements with 4.7, but the drawings were only partially available in SAP.
• The material master setup was only intended for one of the SAP clients.
• Due to the classifying key value /numbering system used, the classification was only carried out in some areas.

Customer requirements

The most important requirements in the course of the switch to S/4 HANA:

• Introduction of an identifying key value / numbering system with S/4HANA
• Increase in the quality of master data files
• Classifications of all master data
• Minimize wait times and effort in the management of master data files
• SAP as the leading system for classification
• Classification of the Windchill Parts (WTPart) via the Windchill interface taking into account the SAP classification logic
• Creation and synchronization of material masters (WTPart) and documents (CAD documents) as well as transfer and comparison of bills of materials via the interface were implemented or revised

Implementation

• The interface facilitates the automatic setup or modification of material masters, document info records and bills of materials.
• The transfer is process-driven from Change Management 4PEP.
• Master data maintenance can be carried out for the various plants via the menu as needed.
• All data is validated before transmission, ensuring a minimum level of quality.

• Greater speed in data maintenance with the Windchill interface
• Assured high-quality data and better support in managing large data volumes
• Automatic transfer of the classification values for WTParts and CAD models in promotion requests enables an automatic update of the corresponding SAP objects.
• Update functions for bills of material (BOM) and bills of documents (BOD)
• The manual maintenance of master data by the engineering department would no longer have been feasible, qualitatively or quantitatively, without the interface.
