Product Master
The parts required for a particular product are defined by the design engineer. As soon as an item has to be procured or produced, a product master is created in MS Dynamics 365. The interface allows the creation of a product or product master and optionally the release as an item at the touch of a button. Each CAD part is marked with a product number. This creates a unique association of CAD part to product (master) in MS Dynamics 365. If the CAD part changes, the change can be updated at the touch of a button or automatically on the MS Dynamics 365 Product Master.
Structure browser
The IFConneX interface has been equipped with a PTC Windchill embedded browser for easy selection. The browser facilitates the selection and navigation in the product structure. Documents linked with the Windchill parts are displayed. The system validates the data before it is displayed in the interface browser. The browser then displays the validation result with any appropriate error messages. This ensures that data transferred to MS Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations meets data quality requirements.
Change process
Changes are requested via change requests in PTC Windchill. After approval of the change request, a change notice is created in PTC Windchill. Once the design engineer has made the changes, all master data in MS Dynamics 365 with reference to the change number are changed and updated at the touch of a button or automatically via IFConneX.
Item BOM
The CAD structure defines the design structure. PTC Windchill automatically creates a corresponding item structure from the CAD structure. IFConneX for MS Dynamics 365 can create an MS Dynamics 365 bill of materials that was extracted directly from the CAD structure or from the part structure in PTC Windchill and stored in MS Dynamics 365. If the structure changes, the change can be transferred automatically to the MS Dynamics 365 item BOM. If required, the user can receive a preview of the MS Dynamics 365 bill of materials or the bill of material changes in the bill of material browser of the interface before transfer to the MS Dynamics 365 system.
Release process
After design completion and creating or updating the MS Dynamics 365 master data via the interface, the designer can release the product structure and all descriptive documents. The MS Dynamics 365 interface ensures once again that the MS Dynamics 365 master data created in MS Dynamics 365 is synchronized with the Windchill data to be released.
